Northeast Chapter SAR
Welcome to the official website of the Northeast Chapter of the Pennsylvania Society Sons of the American Revolution. We are an organization of male descendants of Patriots, who during the American Revolution, rendered unwavering loyal service to the cause of American Independence. Our Sons of the American Revolution organization is dedicated to patriotic, historical, and educational objectives. We help perpetuate the understanding of, reverence for, and preservation of the institutions of American freedom as delineated in the Preamble of the United States Constitution.
Northeastern Pennsylvania is rich in Revolutionary War history. This history includes the Yankee-Pennamite Wars, Fort Wyoming, Forty Fort, the Battle & Massacre of Wyoming, the Sullivan Expedition, the Decree of Trenton, Westmoreland County, and the 24th Connecticut Regiment of Militia. Current historical sites include the Wyoming Monument [burial site of the dead from the Battle of Wyoming], the Swetland Homestead, the Nathan Denison House, Queen Esther's Rock, the Forty Fort Meeting House, the Forty Fort Cemetery [burial site of Col. Nathan Denison Jr.], and the Hollenback Cemetery [burial site of Col. Zebulon Butler].
